AES undertook the role of Sub Contractor and Key Element Manager in the Marshall SV team for the supply and building of the electrical and communication system integration in the highly prestigious and very high profile contract for the provision of 80 Incident Response Vehicles.
The Incident Response Unit is a modern fire service vehicle, developed for the carriage of mass decontamination equipment, which carries its own forklift truck for equipment de-mount operations. The vehicle contains a highly integrated, state of the art communications and data management system.
MSV undertook this contract with key supply partners in an extremely rapid time scale, whilst participating as a full member of the ODPM integrated project team. AES provided a turnkey solution to Marshall SV undertaking project management, system design, system integration and detailed design.
AES are currently providing a high quality, effective nationwide service in whole to the Fire Services for these vehicles working as a key partner with Marshall SV.
AES utilised its systems approach to developing the System specification with the members of the ODPM implementation team. This resulted in a highly capable vehicle, fully compliant with all system requirements but minimising whole life costs by effective use of AES’s design capabilities.
AES integrated the following functions within the short project timescales:
PLC Systems Engineering including the design and certification of the vehicles sub system operating system
Product Safety Engineering, Management and Certification
Product Certification to all current UK and EU Legislation
System Trials Definition, Conduct, Management and Reporting
Training Course Development and Delivery
Operator, Maintainer and Instructor Technical Publications Development
Development and Provision of a highly effective Product Support System, designed to meet the needs of all UK fire services.
Apart from the design and manufacture of the electrical looms and packaged electrical system, AES successfully managed its sub-contract supply partners to deliver systems in an effective manner and ensure timely deliveries. The major AES sub-contracts were as follows:
a) IMASS: The provision of a Mobil Data Terminal, software and UPS, included the management of development work to deliver the clients requirement for an automatic reconnect GPRS system.
b) Cleartone: Provision of 80-triple mode (AMFM, VHF, Tetra) radio systems integrated into the vehicles electrical and power management system.
c) Antares: Power management systems integrated into the electrical sub-system
